Dust, chips and contamination hinder the function of the clamping device while machining. At least, that's the way it used to be with conventional chuck-clamping head solutions. Not so with TOPlus. Instead of the supporting taper in the chuck body, the principle of the TOPlus is based on six conical steel plate surfaces, which are mineral cast to form a pyramid-shaped clamping geometry. Like the chuck, the clamping head of course also has six outer surfaces, which fit snugly and seamlessly to the chuck surfaces. This means that the chuck can be sealed nearly hermetically against contamination. Lubrication is possible by means of a single lubricating nipple. Due to the reduced surface pressure and the full-surface contact of the clamping segments, the radial clamping force of the TOPlus is a full 25 % higher than SPANNTOP chuck. Therefore, TOPlus is even more suitable for raw material, cast and forged parts. TOPlus is also considerably lighter than steel chucks and has a much lower mass inertia torque, which is advantageous especially during high acceleration. The material also has good dampening properties. The advantages of TOPlus are especially important in hard machining and dry cutting situations.
TOPlus has practically the same dimensions as the SPANNTOP nova chuck of the same size. This means that your SPANNTOP nova chuck can easily be changed over to TOPlus by simply replacing the chuck body. The use of MANDO Adapt for TOPlus, the mandrel-in-the-chuck, is also possible, and it can be changed over to a solid I.D. clamping solution quickly and easily. In addition, you can now use the jaw adapter clamp in front of the chuck. This enables machining operations such as drilling or milling between the jaws.
Simply use the jaw adapter to increase the clamping diameter beyond your chuck size.
TOPlus - with full throughbore capacity for bars.
- 25 % better conversion of axial drawtube force to holding power than SPANNTOP
- No radial displacement between clamping head and chuck body, therefore excellent seal agaist dust, contamination and chips. Especially advantageous for dry and hard machining.
- Unequalled rigidity due to full-surface contact of the clamping segments
- Vibration dampening due to cast mineral composite
- Increased process reliability and low surface pressure; ideal for continuous processing of large quantities
- Fast an easy clamping head change-over
- Lubrication with a single lubrication nipple
