A hexagonal heart beats under red covers
Machining cast parts can be a difficult task since dust, filings and dirt can impair correct functioning of the clamping device. Up until now, it was not possible to fully seal chucking systems. However, a Marbach-based exhibitor at EMO 2005 will be presenting an innovative development and intends to write a new chapter in the history of the metal-working industry. To further increase the suspense ahead of the unveiling of this new product, the device will be kept under red covers on the stand, just like a brand new Formula One racing car.
When the cover is removed, visitors will see a Spanntop chuck with impressive internal features. A hexagonal heart made from concrete polymer beats within this intelligent component. This makes its lighter than steel chucks and it has a lower mass moment of inertia, which has a positive effect especially under high acceleration (for example when turning steel).
The exhibitor has another special surprise for anyone coming to the stand—one lucky visitor will win a weekend with a Ferrari.
